2 Bedroom Cottage in Saint-Helen, La Coupaudais

The gîte sleeps 4, has full central heating throughout and a large open fire place with log burning stove, ideal for holidays all year round.
The ground floor has an open plan lounge/diner with a galley style kitchen area. The focal point of the ground floor is the large original fireplace and exposed wooden beams. The lounge area has comfortable sofas and English & French TV with all free view to channels. There is also a DVD, video player with a selection of DVDS, videos, games and books. The dining area has a pine table and six chairs. The kitchen has fitted units with an integrated dual fuel cooker, fridge with freezer compartment and large selection of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, pot’s pans and serving dishes.
The bathroom has a shower cubicle and a sink and separate toilet.
The first bedroom has a large metal framed double bed, oak wardrobe and side cabinets. The second bedroom has two single pine beds and with a painted pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is also a travel cot, stair gate and high chair available.
There is a large garden to the rear and has been laid to lawn and contains a 15ft round, above-ground swimming pool. The garden is enclosed with gates at the entrances.
At the front of the gite is a gravelled driveway and pergola area with setting and ancient bread oven. Beyond the driveway is a two-acre meadow for all guests to roam and explore. This leads on to the Forêt de Coëtquen, where you can find mapped out trails to follow.
We have a games room with pool table, table tennis and a dart board as well as a large selection of outdoor games and equipment, such as a paddling pool, badminton, tennis, soft ball, cricket, footballs, frisbees etc.
We have also converted a small barn into a utility room that houses a washing machine, extra fridge and freezer, a sink and clothes airers etc
Barbecue equipment and garden furniture are provided for the use of guests.
You can do as much or as little as you want. Some guests like to laze around in the gardens, taking lunch here and having a glass of wine or two. Others like to go through the entire tourism office catalogue of attractions. To help you find your happy medium there is a folder full of information at the property.
Dogs are welcome on request only and subject to our pet policy, plus a supplement of £30

Summary: The overall impression is very good. The beautiful house in situated in a very nice and quiet surroundings and there is a large forest really close by (walking distance 5 minutes). The house is very well equiped, there is a washing machine in the little shed, and there is a fine round swimming pool on the grass behind the house. We also had a lovely little space in front of the house, underneath a grape vine, where we could sit and eat. We had a great time (though the beds and couch were a little soft compared to what we are used to), and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is planning a stay in Brittany. The very friendly owners, Jim and Joanne, really know the surroundings and gave us several useful suggestions for a days visit (thank you again!). Erik, Sonja and Yana

Summary: This was our first visit to the Gite at Les Fougeres in July 2015 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Joanne & Jim are very friendly and welcoming and have done an amazing job on the property. The Gite provided us with a home from home with a well equipped kitchen, tastefully decorated living space with wifi and TV included. The enclosed garden allowed us to relax with our dog on his first holiday in France. Les Fougeres is situated in a quiet country setting but with in easy reach of Dinan, St Malo, Dinard & Rennes. We enjoyed our first holiday here so much that we have already booked for next year.

Summary: As the title suggests, we have been visiting Les Fougeres for over 10 years. To begin with, as a newly married couple, and now as a family of 4. We have also introduced other family members to the delights on offer. The location never ceases to enthral us and we are still finding new things to do and visit. The accommodation is immaculate with lovely decor, keeping in a traditional French theme with a modern twist. All the amenities are included, fully equipped kitchen, use of a barbecue, washing facilities and additional freezer space. Beautiful landscaping in a beautiful setting. The location means that you can do as little or as much as you want. There is a guidebook supplied with lots of thorough information regarding sights, towns, markets, opening times, museums to visit, etc. The owners are very welcoming and friendly hosts who are on hand to offer help and information if required. Looking forward to next year!

Summary: We wanted a long romantic weekend in a cosy country cottage with good restaurants and places to visit nearby. We could not believe our luck when we arrived at the gite, we were not disappointed. We arrived from Stanstead just before10:00am and could not believe how easy, quick and cheap the flight was. We sailed through customs picked up our hire car, again easy, quick and cheap (£35) and arrived at the gite for 10:30am. The gite was absolutely lovely, warm, spotlessly clean and had everything we could have wanted and more – the pictures do not do this place justice. The gite has a big log burner which the owners leave ready for you so all you have to do is light it, the most comfy bed with lovely bedding and a proper shower. Off to the local supermarket 5 mins away to stock up on all the lovely food that makes you feel happy and content. We visited Dinan, very pretty and Dinard which has a spectacular beach. Both were nearby and easy to find, we also went to a wine fayre in Rennes, a beautiful city that we hope to visit later in the year. We had some wonderful lunches out, a special mention must go to Le Genty Home recommend by the owners, a fantastic restaurant with amazing food for 16 euors for 3 courses. We spent the evenings in front of the log burner, drinking wine and feasting on delicious cheeses and other delicacies we found in the supermarket. We left on Monday morning with heavy hearts and without a walk in the forest at the end of the garden, but we will be back to see what Les Fougares has to offer in the summer.
